pictureThe Brequet company invariably provokes admirations due to its ability to innovate. Its inventions left bright trail in the history of horology, and Breguet`s nowadays remarkable achievements make this company indisputable leader in its area.

The company occupies the very special place in our cultural heritage, owing this unique position to the inventiveness of its founder, Abraham-Louis Breguet (1747-1823) (who established universal standards in horology), and to the talent of modern watchmakers who strive to turn every watch into an artwork.

Abraham-Louis Breguet was born in Neuchâtel, Switzerland, but spent the major part of his life in Paris. Being interested absolutely in all aspects of horology, he made a great number of significant discoveries.

Louis XVI  the King of France and Marie Antoinette were one of the first appreciators of Breguet`s talent. Every watch made in his pictureworkshops was the embodiment of the latest achievements in horology, even more perfected by the great master.

During the trouble times of French Revolution Abraham-Louis Breguet found his exile in Switzerland, but later returned to Paris full of creative thoughts and cunning ideas. The beginning was set by invention of legendary Breguet balance spring, the first travel watches bought by Napoleon Bonaparte, and the "sympathique" clock and it's dependent watch, and, finally, tourbillon patented in 1801.

Breguet`s fame spread all over Europe, making the name of  talented watchmaker to be said with awe in diplomatic, academic, military and financial circles.  Moreover, his watches used to be enormously popular at all European court yards. Abraham-Louis Breguet developed and manufactured special watch models for the most exalted clients. For example, in 1810 he created the first wristwatch for Caroline Murat the Queen of Naples.

Breguet was showered honors for his exceptional contribution to development of horology;  he was elected a member of  geographical coordinates bureau and became an official watchmaker for Royal Navy. Moreover, he was accepted to the Academy of Sciences and received the Order Legion of Honor handed to him by the king Louis XVIII himself.

Abraham-Louis Breguet died in 1823, making history as a genius master who initiated the great shift in horology and science in general. Modern success of the watches trademark depends as ever in its ability on introducing the innovations.

Вreguet`s ingenuity and mastership hasn`t fade'd with time, but reached new heights instead. Thus, during the last 10 years under the guidance of Nicolas George Hayek, the number of new patents significantly exceeded the quantity of inventions committed by the founder of company.
